Yes, most of us already have our eye on the
2012 Presidential election, but lets not forget that early voting starts TODAY for State of Texas Constitutional Amendments, Houston Mayor, Houston City Council positions, and School District Trustee positions. Each of these is very important so get out there and vote!
I know, I know.
This is a lot of information to take in, but you have plenty of time left to be informed on what and who you'll be voting for ... and ultimately against. Early Voting begins today, October 24th and runs through Friday, November 4th.
Election Day is Tuesday, November 8th ... but you can early vote now to avoid the crowds!
I've known Kelly for years and am proud to add my name to her impressive list of
endorsements. Kelly has Cy-Fair close to her heart as a resident and graduate of Cypress Fairbanks High School. As a wife, mother to three boys and small business owner, Kelly understands how to look within a budget and expenses to ensure Cy-Fair ISD lives within its means. The transparency we currently have within Cy-Fair is poor and Kelly's proposal of a monthly townhall meeting would be greatly welcomed.
It's time for Cy-Fair to vote in Kelly Horsley as a board member who:
- believes in parents rights and involvement in their children's education is essential.
- understands Cy-Fair is a destination district for exceptional education.
- is a strong advocate for teachers and students at the state legislative level as she has experience working with state legislators.
- believes in limited governmental intervention in the education process.
- will fight for lower taxes of Cy-Fair residents.
My Cy-Fair friends and family, please vote for
Kelly Horsley for Cy-Fair ISD Board of Trustees Position 1. She will bring Cy-Fair ISD back into the hands of parents and small business owners and out of the hands of education bureaucrats!
And while I live outside the Houston city limits, I also personally endorse
Fernando Herrera for Houston Mayor. His ABC approach to the budget is
Absolute,
Beneficial and
Convenient.
"As a Deputy Chief in the Houston Fire Department, I have been responsible for multi-million dollar budgets. I’ve supervised numerous employees in an office environment as well as hundreds of first responders in environments that are immediately dangerous to both life and health. My 30 years as an emergency responder, combined with my experience starting and successfully managing a manufacturing company for 14 y..., provide a unique perspective and management style that will serve Houston well."
Fernando's experience and pledge to Houston is uncompromising and dedicated.
The Houston Chronicle says Mayor Annise Parker must
win big to set the tone for her second term, but their "tone" is that she'll win with no problem. With the lowest approval rating in decades, does she deserve re-election? No. Mayor Parker called tea party activists "teabaggers" when promoting
The Houston Rain Tax or "Rebuild Houston" fund. This fund has since morphed into bike trails. Saying you're fiscally conservative doesn't make it true and isn't enough.
Every candidate for the Houston City Election 2011 at the
jump here.
So there you have it, my friends. One stop shopping for all that is voting in 2011 for Harris County and Texas this election round.
Please don't throw your vote away by staying home.
Get out there, vote and use one of the freedoms millions across the world would die to have for their own. And honor those who have died for our country defending our freedoms.
Dwight D. Eisenhower once said "the future of this republic is in the hands of the American voter."
It's in your hands so go vote today!
