About Me

Sofie Inkpen is the name of the avatar I created to pursue my political interests in Second Life. In real life I'm an English professor who has a lot of experience using new media/web 2.0 applications in my classes. I'm also very familiar with SL. I want to keep my professional and political lives separate--unlike a lot of my liberal colleagues in higher education.

I live in the Denver metro area.

Wow, Sofie! This is the first time I've taken a close look at your page, and I'm impressed. I'll admit I'm a dinosaur - I don't know how to use blogs, wiki, RSS, etc, but I'm going to have to learn. You have a great step by step manual for getting started, so I'm going to spend some time studying it. And I'll be taking a closer look at some of the sites you mentioned. I sure wish I had your skills in using the internet!

For the most part, I am referring to things like Facebook, Twitter, etc. when I say "social media." We do not have a presence on Second Life, but I would be interested in hearing how that might help us advance our cause. You are obviously well versed in this subject, so I hope you won't mind if I call on your expertise from time to time. We really want to get SGP on the cutting edge of social media!
