Many people have been working tirelessly behind the scenes to have to our collective voices heard by our representatives, our government. The Tea Parties of April 15, 2009 were a start. Over one million strong, across our nation, we stepped out from behind the vail of complacency to be heard. We were heard.
Those same tireless workers are at it again. The Tea Parties are planning rallies across our nation on July 4th. A rally has been planned, permits in hand for DC. The organizer of this event is Patrick Beck, no relation to Glenn though! I have been in contact with Patrick and his organization, March for Liberty (http://marchforliberty.org/) regarding details of the event. When I questioned the preparation in advance of the event his reply was
"You better believe it's happening. We're up to about 25,000 people with more coming everyday. I appeared on the Glenn Beck Show on Fox the other day promoting the event. There are buses of people coming in from Virginia, Pennsylvania, Ohio, North Carolina, South Carolina, Maryland, Texas, Louisiana, and Florida. I heard yesterday of a family flying in from Hawaii. This is going to be incredible.
As far as details are concerned, it will start at McPherson Square (about 2 blocks north of the White House) at 9:30 AM. From there we will "march" to the Upper Senate Park adjacent to the U.S. Capitol Building. Starting at 10:00 AM we will have speakers and a rally. I am not the organizer but have heard, had mention of it at a GOP dinner and read about it on line in our local network. I could not find a posting for the event on the Tea Party site and figured the more advertisement the better.
I'll be there with my meetup group "We The People of Hopewell"!
