Please let us get a candidate that when the primaries are over was not the least of 2 evils.

A candidate that will not only have a great knowledge of the constitution but also spout it from the roof tops when congress is trying to pass an unlawful bill.
A candidate that will NEVER vote party line unless the bill is constitutional (and a thought just occurred to me, shouldn't we have all the laws we need by now?) and is approved by the people.
A candidate that will stand up and make known all over Washington, that He/She is voting based on the people of Tennessee and regardless of lobbyist and back room deals,
One who will never add or vote for Pork and will make it known to the people where the pork is.
One that will only do 2 terms and then step down before He/She becomes corrupted by the power of the position.

And ALL 3 items listed by P/H

2. Repeal unconstitutional statutes & programs.

The Honorable Harry Reid
Majority Leader
United States Senate
Washington, D.C. 20510

Dear Mr. Leader:

We have grave concerns regarding the exclusion of longstanding funding limitations on abortion in the various appropriations bills that are currently before Congress. These measures, which have enjoyed broad bipartisan support for many years, are meant to ensure that taxpayers are not forced to pay for or promote elective abortions either in the United States or abroad.

Yet provisions calling for taxpayer financed abortions and the promotion of abortion have been included in the FY2010 Financial Services and State/Foreign Operations Appropriations bills. We cannot, in good conscience, allow these provisions to move forward, even in an omnibus appropriations bill.

We want to assure you that we are prepared to take full advantage of our rights under Senate rules to prevent massive taxpayer subsidies for abortions and abortion-related activities.

Sincerely,

Lamar Alexander (R-TN), John Barrasso (R - WY), Robert Bennett (R-UT), Bond, Christopher S. - (R - MO), Sam Brownback (R - KS), Jim Bunning (R - KY), Richard Burr (R - NC) , Saxby Chambliss (R - GA), Tom Coburn (R - OK), Bob Corker (R - TN), John Cornyn (R - TX), Mike Crapo (R - ID), Jim DeMint (R - SC), John Ensign (R - NV), Michael Enzi (R - WY), Lindsey Graham (R - SC), Chuck Grassley (R - IA), Judd Gregg (R - NH), Orrin Hatch (R - UT), Kay Bailey Hutchison (R - TX), Jim Inhofe (R - OK), Johnny Isakson (R - GA), Mike Johanns (R - NE), Jon Kyl (R - AZ), George LeMieux (R - FL), John McCain (R - AZ), Mitch McConnell (R - KY), James Risch (R - ID), Pat Roberts (R - KS), Jeff Sessions (R - AL), Richard Shelby (R - AL), John Thune (R - SD), David Vitter (R - LA), George Voinovich (R - OH), Roger Wicker (R - MS).

Just received confirmation that my fax was delivered to McCaskill!

Dear Senator McCaskill,

I saw on the news where you announced that you could not support the Health care Bill if it raises Health costs! I just want to thank you for being the ONE senator on the Democratic side that cares about the American People! You show that you care about seniors and that you care about the young who will pay for this entire bill.

Just look at some of the tax increases on small businesses and individuals in this bill, it is incredulous to hear the leadership in this party say there will be no cost increases and it will not raise the deficit. Senator, you know and I know that it will indeed raise the deficit and health care costs for us all. If you take just the Medicare cuts that are not part of this bill, and add 55 year olds to the program it doesn’t take a genius to figure out the money will have to come from somewhere.

HSA Withdrawal Tax Hike (Page 1998/Sec. 9004/$1.3 bil): Increases additional tax on nonmedical early withdrawals from an HSA from 10 to 20 percent, disadvantaging them relative to IRAs and other tax-advantaged accounts, which remain at 10 percent.
FSA Cap (Page 1999/Sec. 9005/$14.6 bil): Imposes cap on FSAs of $2500 (now unlimited).
Corporate 1099-MISC Information Reporting (Page 1999/Sec. 9006/$17.1 bil): Requires businesses to send 1099-MISC information tax forms to corporations (currently limited to individuals), a huge compliance burden for small employers
Excise Tax on Charitable Hospitals (Page 2001/Sec. 9007/Min$): $50,000 per hospital if they fail to meet new "community health assessment needs," "financial assistance," and "billing and collection" rules set by HHS.
Tax on Innovator Drug Companies (Page 2010/Sec. 9008/$22.2 bil): $2.3 billion annual tax on the industry imposed relative to share of sales made that year.
Tax on Medical Device Manufacturers (Page 2020/Sec. 9009/$19.3 bil): $2 billion annual tax on the industry imposed relative to shares of sales made that year. Exempts items retailing for <$100.
Tax on Health Insurers (Page 2026/Sec. 9010/$60.4 bil): $6.7 billion annual tax on the industry imposed relative to health insurance premiums collected that year.
Eliminate tax deduction for employer-provided retirement Rx drug coverage in coordination with Medicare Part D (Page 2034/Sec. 9012/$5.4 bil)
Raise "Haircut" for Medical Itemized Deduction from 7.5% to 10% of AGI (Page 2034/Sec. 9013/$15.2 bil): Waived for 65+ taxpayers in 2013-2016 only

All of these taxes will be pushed onto the consumers, and I applaud you for standing up for us!

A concerned citizen,

Paula Tyler

P/H, Bart just sent this email!

Dear Friend,

After more than a quarter-century of having the honor and privilege of serving you as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, I plan to retire from Congress when my current term ends at the end of 2010.

I feel honored that the people of Middle Tennessee have allowed me to serve them for the past 25 years. Every decision I have made in Congress has been with the best interests of you and the people I represent in mind. I hope you feel that I have served you as well as your good advice and views have served me.

Turning 60 has led me to re-evaluate what’s next. I have an 8-year-old daughter and a wonderful wife who has a very demanding job. I am the only child of my 83-year-old mother, Margaret. They have made sacrifices to allow me to do what I love by serving in Congress, and now it’s my turn.

Over the years, I have worked to improve the quality of life for working families by providing greater access to higher education; allowing workers to keep their jobs while managing a family emergency such as a sick child, spouse or parent; and working to preserve the American dream by ensuring today’s students have the strong math and science skills they will need for the jobs of the future.

When I was named chairman of the House Science and Technology Committee in 2007, I became Tennessee’s first full committee chairman in 30 years. I’m grateful for the opportunity it presented to author landmark legislation such as the America COMPETES Act, but my goals in Congress have always remained the same.

My dream for kids growing up in Middle Tennessee is the same that I have for my daughter, Peyton – for them to grow up in a safe neighborhood, get a quality education, and be able to find a good job close to home. I hope I’ve been able to make that dream more of a reality for the next generation

In the year ahead, I will be focusing on the work that remains to be done in Congress. Our country is facing extraordinary challenges, and I will continue to work to be the best congressman I can be. My doors are open in Murfreesboro, Gallatin and Cookeville, and my staff and I will continue to listen to people’s concerns and help them cut through government red tape.

Staying in touch with the people I represent has been my number one priority. That will remain true throughout my last year in Congress.

Stay in touch,
Bart

And take a moment to pat ourselves on the back. Rush Limbaugh said today that Bart Gordon is NOT seeking re-election.

OK! Break time is over! Now go make your calls, etc. about defeating government takeover of medical care!
Hugs to you all!

Please take just 5 minutes today to make your calls, I have appointments after work today, but I have put her phone numbers in my cell so I can still make my calls. Please ask one more person to do this, your spouse, your neighbor, we can still stop Healthscare!

Senator McCaskill has announced that she cannot support the Health Scare Bill if it Raises Health costs! Here is a Quote by her. Lets call, fax and email her and give her all the costs of this bill. Pick one or pick all. Make sure if you are emailing that you use one of her district offices to get through. If her fax goes offline call and let her staff know that you are trying to get a fax through and would appreciate them fixing it! Send The faxes to her district offices!

"The whole reason we're doing this bill is to bring down cost, first for the American people in health care, and secondly for the deficit," said Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill of Missouri. "So until we get the numbers back from the Congressional Budget Office, we're all on hold."
Asked if she would vote against the bill if it raised health care costs overall, she said, "Absolutely."
