Nashville's Billion dollar debate is on!

Nashville has a billion dollar, publicly funded convention center vote just around the corner.

The mayor and city council ignore the evidence of failure at other cities around the country and forge ahead with taxpayer dollars---even though Nashville schools are some of the worst in the nation....

The first of a number of public forums starts tomorrow night at Union Station from 6-8 pm, with Steve Gill moderating.

The first of www.nashvillespriorities.org

Dec. 8 Steve Gill Town Hall meeting, Union Station, 6-8 pm.
At least four others are scheduled into January.

contact me w/any questions.

Hi Brett. The big picture answer is we report the news because those that are being paid to do it don't. Any detail below that I think still needs to be worked out which is where I think your question is directed. I think it would be productive to have some sort of kickoff meeting to work out some of those details. Ideally I think it would be great if there were an SGP news page, and SGP web radio and web tv news shows based on content contributed by SGP citizen journalists.

Welcome Kathy - great name, by the way. I'm sure you've heard this before, but your initals are KGB... Ha! I'm going to check out freerepublic on your recommendation.

Hey everyone, don't forget that October 17 is the day of the nationwide "Can You Hear Us Now" protests at various mainstream, biased media offices. We need to keep the pressure on. To find a protest near you, go to:

OK, I found the right group for me! :)
I have been a citizen journalist since 2002. Glad to see I am not alone. Does anyone here use the website, www.freerepublic.com. Great source of info and they beat the MSM on issues frequently.

Laurel - Excellent letter!

Letter to MY Senator:
---
Dear Senator Warner,
With all due respect, you say you want to reform Health Care. You can start by not adding costs to a bill that should simply legislate, not tax. You need no more money, and we as a country have none, except for yourself; I understand you are very wealthy. How nice for you.

Asking the American public to pay for a policy that you and your colleagues have managed to personally "opt out" through your legislation for your personal health benefits, is unethical.

Regarding "the rising cost of health care" is not addressed by putting the burden on seniors and removing their health care, Medicare Advantage. Why you refuse to acknowledge the amendments presented by the GOP is simply political gain, and has nothing to do with economic responsibility for your constituents. You claim elections have consequences, yes we see that clearly, and it is duly noted by all the 1.2 marching million visitors on September 12th. Shall our school children be taught to sing the praises of debt thanks to you?

You say "if we do nothing our health care system will explode our national debt" which is a bold false-hood, since your public option policy along with Cap and Trade ENERGY TAX bill is what is designed to purposefully destroy our economy. You do not acknowledge the proposed amendments offered to legislate and control fraud, ER abuse and regulate tort reform, drafted by the GOP, to achieve the Health Care Reform goals. Everyone has read these amendments online, why haven't you?

Instead you agree to ask the public to pay for abortions, while continuing to accept contributions from lobbyists, who buy policy making for malpractice payoffs. You agree to tax the American workers to fill your coffers, thus buying colleagues votes and bank-rolling personal elections. All self motivated. You are so far removed from the type of man our country once honored as a role model.

Again you state "I believe ... that doing nothing is both misguided and irresponsible" in which you describe yourself, by not including proper bi-partisan legislation. Sir you are disingenuous... and we will remind you of that insincerity in 2010 and every year there after. Understandably, you have plenty of money for yourself, recognized in the top 10 of the wealthiest Congressmen ... so you really don't feel our pain, nor do your actions reflect of our best interests.

The GOP amendments denied on this bill could address the costs, and promote fair and balanced results on HCR. What you propose is self-interested agendas, propaganda to promote yourself, and your party's politics. Competition works well in the market place if politicians kept their fingers out of the pie. So, as a business man, how did you become so wealthy?

Let me remind you this is not Venezuela, nor Cuba so please leave my country, you are NOT a patriot. Please leave my country, and reside in the dictatorship of your choice. Please leave my country because your disservice has been duly noted and I pledge to travel, email, call and write at every opportunity to tell all of your disrespect for this country and our constitutional values.

Most disappointingly yours,
Laurel Guy
