Can we promote our own books here?

Here is a review, from one reader:

Twelve Steps to Reclaim a Nation's Soul

Twelve steps is an in depth examination of what is wrong with our country's leaders. I've often asked myself, "Why would they do such a thing"? Twelve steps helped me to understand the addiction to power within our elected officials and subsequent corruption - how they got there and what they need to do to begin the healing process. The author does an excellent job of breaking down, step by step, the process that each of our power addicted officials need to go through to change the course of our nation, the problems that their addiction is causing the people of America, and with detailed history, why our leaders need to take that first step - admit they have a problem with their addiction.

I recommend this book to anyone who is concerned about the irreversible direction that the Socialist Liberals currently running our country in 2009 are taking us with their power hungry agendas. Twelve steps helped me to understand how this could happen and why it is happening.

Bravo Jo Anne N. for having the courage, fortitude, logic, and common sense to write this book. You obviously "get it".

Step 10 - end of 6th paragraph: "The triggers for relapse will be mighty but when one has the steps in one hand and their country's constitution in the other, it will be more difficult for them to reach out for power". Excellent!

Step 10 - end of 10th paragraph: "Caring does not mean control, it is letting go to allow people to make their own decisions and suffer the consequences of those decisions". Well put!

Step 11 - first paragraph under Meditation: "Perhaps those who fought for a 'women's right to choose' forgot that the choice ended upon pregnancy."

Thanks for letting me post. See you in the other groups.
John C. Bieber Comment by John C. Bieber on November 21, 2009 at 8:56am

My new novel, inspired by true angel encounters in my life, and the current day economic and political scene in the United States. In “Angels: A story about Fannie & Freddie, the President, Blackmail and Murder”, the lead character Matt Davidson’s real estate company is being taken down by the sub-prime credit crisis of 2009. As a prayerful believer and ordinary family man, Matt has prayed for help to survive the economic downturn and he is given a gift that lets him see into the spiritual world. The gift is the ability to see angels and demons on earth. He can see them in the world, on television and in photography, books and movies. Matt sees patterns of demonic activity around certain politicians, some more than others. He prays to find out why and for what purpose he has been given this ability. This leads him on a spiritual mission and he is shown where evil forces lie in the highest offices in American government. Matt is used, with the help and protection of angels, to reveal an Iranian plot to control the American presidency. Matt remains faithful and with the help of a fellow believer friend, they go to “seek out” the one who is revealed to him to be at the center of the plan.
Controversial and without naming names, the president of the United States in Bieber’s new novel, demonstrates many similarities to the current resident of the White House. “Readers can use their imaginations any way they want. My hope is they can relate to the characters in the story the best way that works for them.” Bieber says. “Two scenes in the book are real experiences where angels saved my life and the lives of my family. There are many issues in the story that most Americans can relate to. The pressures put on a family when cash flow stops. Being in a situation where you can only turn to God for help.”
Bieber shows the world a new twist to terrorism as Iranian militants use blackmail and a murder plot in an attempt to take over the US Presidency. “People have responded very well to the inside the White House dialog that takes place as the President is forced to make decisions. Liberals might not like it as much as conservatives would because I rough up some of the liberal icons.”
“Angels:” includes dramatic scenes where angels are on hand at the Space Shuttle Challenger explosion and at the World Trade Center attacks in 2001. “I know angels are use by God to protect and defend us. Angels are God’s magnificent, invincible helpers here on Earth.”
Fast paced, romantic, political, intense, funny, tender, dark and spiritual. John C. Bieber takes the reader from modern day Valley Forge, to the New Jersey shore, Philadelphia, Washington DC, Paris, Monte Carlo, on board Air Force One, Detroit, Tehran, New York City and into the White House. The momentum builds and builds to a dramatic conclusion.
“Angels: A story about Fannie & Freddie, the President, Blackmail and Murder” is available at Amazonbooks.com, Booksamillion.com, BarnesandNobel.com all major book distributors. A pre-view is available at GoogleBooks.

I would like to comment about a book I tried reading " Screwed : The Undeclared War Against the Middle Class. The Author is Thom Hartman. I just finish Grand New Party and I wanted to read something from a different point of view, to be informed. The author is a self described 'radical middle' and has his own radio show. I only read to page 14 before I quit. The forward is written by Mark C Miller and he informs the reader that for decades global warming has been "veiled by corporate and religious propaganda, its now a major story sold dramatically by Times, CNN and Hollywood." Hollywood? Really? Since when is Hollywood a credible source. Am I really supposed take the Hollywood view over that of my faith. When Thom Hartmann finally starts his book I came to a section called The Con Game and from then on he calls the Republicans "cons." I found it very childish, like a bully on play ground. If he is already resulting to name calling and personal attacks by page 14, I am not interested in his book. I was looking for an informative insight to the Democrat movement what I got was a "radical middle". He lays blame on the backs of republicans and praises the democrats. IF you have read Saving Freedom you see how Sen. DeMint spreads the blame and finds the faults within his own unperfect party as did the authors of Grand New Party. I found both of those books very educational. Please do not read this book and pass this message along to other readers as well.

Just finished up ‘Culture of Corruption’, ‘Saving Freedom’, and ‘Catastrophe’, so now I am listening to ‘Stop Acting Rich’ by Thomas J. Stanley (the guy that wrote the ‘Millionaire Next Door’) and reading ‘Knockout’ by Suzanne Somers. The next books I will be reading/listening to are ‘What Americans Really Want..Really’ by Dr. Frank Luntz and ‘Soft Despotism, Democracy’s drift: Montesquieu, Rousseau, Tocqueville, and the Modern Prospect’ by Paul Anthony Rahe.
The best political books I have ever read were ‘Liberty and Tyranny” by Mark Levin and ‘The Vision of the Anointed’ by Thomas Sowell. Levin’s book is a masterpiece that every conservative should read and Sowell’s book gave me the key strategy to understanding what approach I should use to win arguments with liberals.

Great Book! "Hayduke Lives!" by Edward Abbey.

Sequel to "The Monkeywrench Gang"

Inspired the Eco-Terrorist organization Earth First!

Learn how to fight the machine... this book shows how to cause change in institutions... Here in Eureka, California Earth First! was completely victorious in the battle to save the redwoods. MAXXAM/PALCO is bankrupt and Charles Hurwitz has gone back to Texas... The Headwaters Forest is a Park and a new company (the GAP) is running the mill in Scotia... and they practice sustainable logging... only cut as much as grows.

I highly recommend Because They Hate by Bridgitte Gabriel. It's a must read for understanding radical Islam and its implications for Western culture.

I would recommend "National Suicide: How Washington is Destroying the American Dream from A To Z" by Martin L. Gross. It’s a real eye opener.

I posted this in "What Smart Girls Recommend". I am reading "Surrender: Appeasing Islam by Bruce Bawer". It is another eyeopener. The NYT reviewed it after they ignored his earlier book, "While Europe Slept" which I have not read. Anyway, this book exposes many newsworthy events that receive little press in our country. It is extremely well written and frightening. The author has his biases, but you can see why. Another book that received little press in this country regarding radical Islam is "Londonistan" by Melanie Phillips. I read it last year. It discusses the slow steady corrosion of London's western ideals as they acquiese to Muslims' increasing demands. Both "Surrender" and "Londonistan" are very worthy, interesting and disturbing reads.

This is my current list of books that I am trying to read; Atlas Shrugged, 5000 Year Leap, Common Sense, The Culture of Corruption, and I just bought Arguing with Idiots. My problem is finding the time to read and when I do not falling asleep (not because the book is dull, but because I am tired!)
Arguing with Idiots is packed with good information. I enjoyed just skimming it before I bought it today.
